Profiling Float figure A number of gliders are regularly deployed in various regions around the world. The gliders dive continuously, returning to the surface to relay measurements via satellite after each dive. Measurements of both physical and biological ocean properties are made (such as temperature, salinity, pressure, oxygen, chlorophyll and scattering). This site presents preliminary figures of the oceanic measurements and glider health as the data are received in realtime.

The Hawaiian glider deployment and data processing is a joint effort between the research group led by David Karl at the University of Hawaii and our group at Oregon State University. Funding for this effort is provided by a grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to David Karl and by the National Science Foundation through its support of the Science and Technology Center for Microbial Oceanography: Research and Education (CMORE).
